Hew Locke, For those in Peril on the Sea, 2017

Pérez Art Museum Miami; Miami, Florida

“The piece alludes to globalization and waves of immigration—particularly from the Caribbean, and specifically by sea recurring in Miami’s history”

I believe in teaching students to be engaged and criticial thinkers who can analyze competing perspectives and effectively communicate their own arguments. I believe in visualizing political science in action through conversations with current events, practitioners on the frontlines, and through hands-on experience. I am committed to creating inclusive and safe spaces of community to encourage active learning for students of all backgrounds and identities.
